John Lee Hooker - Bad Like Jesse James

To me, he is the best bluesman of all time. Sure, there have been the likes of Muddy Waters, BB King, Buddy Guy. But none has the coolness factor of JLH.

Howlin' Wolf - The Sun Is Rising

One of my absolute faves from Howlin'. Amazing feeling and pure, pure blues.
I know it from the Blues Festival compilation (3 brilliant CDs of blues). Enjoy.

Howlin' Wolf - Little Red Rooster

Written by Willie Dixon, Little Red Rooster is a blues standard first recorded by Howlin' Wolf.
It is amazing to me how Wolf's guitar playing is as good as his harmonica.
For more info on Little Red Rooster and the amazing artists that covered this track (among them The Doors...) go to : Wikipedia entry for Little Red Rooster

Howlin' Wolf - How Many More Years

For the first post, let's hear what one of the best blues players of all time had to say about the blues. I'm talking about Howlin' Wolf  in a recording made in '66. Unique and truly talented, Howlin' Wolf was one of the greatest representatives of Chicago blues and an artist who's work is filled with the very essence of what blues is all about.
Just as a side note, his real name was Chester Arthur Burnett (according to wikipedia : Howlin' Wolf's Page @ Wikipedia )
